I've always been fascinated by Star Trek. More than any other show, Star Trek embodies what I think the world should be like: where everyone is important and equal, where everyone has something of value to contribute and where money is no longer the basis for life on earth. What a great day that will be.
Bring on The Federation! I love the idea of getting away from corporations running the world based on money and profits. I believe life on earth is far more important and valuable than any piece of paper could ever be, and don't get me started on profits.
And certainly Star Trek has helped to shape our future with implanting ideas like the communicator, warp drive and the replicator into the minds of our technology wizards of today because now these thing are real. I can't wait for warp drive so when I come back to this planet in my next life, I'll be able to explore the universe just like the crew of the Enterprise.

Imagination is the fuel behind technology, as Star Trek attests. Today I watched a TED Talk about such technology, only to fully realize that the fantasies of yesterday truly are the new tools of today. Clearly if we can create such incredible things, how can we make The Federation a reality too where everyone is equal?
In that TED Talk, I found some definite indications that the world is surely changing...and in as much as war, disease, hunger and greed still captivate its foundations, there is an amazing new 'energy' descending upon us all, and the shift toward Consciousness is apparent everywhere. Here is that excerpt:
"No longer will change be the domain of the sanctioned, the privileged, the educated and the influential. Where once we required the support and might of an organization to try to make change, we don’t need that any more. Now we can easily enlist others to create with us, and we can all harness the power of purpose. This power is already at work in the world, unleashing the power of many, not in a sentimental or moralistic sense but in the sense that most of us want to do things that matter. And this force will gain momentum and speed in the next 30 years."
Amen...
