What if someone told you that all you needed was Faith? Along my own
journey, I am reminded every day how complex life is, and yet every time I come across something about what it takes to be happy and successful in life, it always comes down to faith. From Affirmations to Positive Mental Attitudes to Gratitude, Christ, Buddha and Mother Teresa, they have all been simply about simple Faith. Could it be that simple?
Do we make much more out of finding happiness than what we really need to? Are we all caught up in our insatiable curiosity and our need to pull everything apart, to analyze and categorize and philosophize that we’ve gone far beyond the simple and obvious? I think so.
For centuries, we have been dissecting our world and everything in it in our attempt to understand who we are, why we’re here, where we came from and what we’re here to do. It has been the quest for humankind for many a millennium.
One thing for sure: most of what has been said and written from way back in ancient times has merely been repeated – time and time again - as we continue to try and explain the unexplainable. What is everyone trying to really say? It is here, in the depths of our spiritual journey, where mere words continue to fail us.
More than this however is that each carefully selected word comes with its own baggage. The word “God” is a great example: it is a holy word, a swear word, it is filled with hell and damnation and wrath. It is surrounded by a plethora of doctrines, suicide and murder and even war, a globe full of beliefs and faiths and a myriad of perspectives.
Adding to this dilemma are many other words with the same issues: spirit, faith, soul, spiritual, metaphysical, heaven, Lord, Holy, Father, Ala, Higher Self, Authentic Self, Universal Consciousness, The Source, Life Force, and many more. In fact, the whole dialect around spirituality is filled with good intentions while wrought with old, outdated and heavily-laden meanings. Is there any wonder why spirituality is so controversial?
So, where do we begin? How does a person find the Truth? Do we have enough time in our short lives to learn what we need to learn in order to ascend, as many believe we are supposed to? What path should we
really be on? Who should we learn from or listen to? How will we know when we’re on the right track?
Ahh, and here’s the magic. The Truth can only found within ‘you.’ Spirit is always there to connect with you, and when you are truly receptive, the Truth for your life will become very clear.
Spirit: the pure, sacred essence within through which we are connected to the Eternal; likened to a seed, Spirit is
always waiting to burst forth into the world with exactly what is
contained within it…given a chance.
Truth and Happiness, Hope and Wisdom and Peace come from only one source: Spirit.
Back to “What if…”
What if we’re the ones who get in our own way by making Faith much, much more complicated than it really needs to be? Do we really need to know for certain if it’s evolution or creation? Do we have to study each doctrine to understand? Which One out there has the real Truth? Do we need Guidance: sometimes. Do we need preaching a doctrine; no.
Consider that all you really need to have is Faith; in life, that you are safe, loved, divine and whole, just as you are. All the thousands of words,
regardless of their definitions or baggage or meaning cannot change what rises from within you. My belief cannot affect your belief - unless you let it.
And so; what if peace and happiness, connecting with the Eternal, living forever, finding happiness and love in this lifetime and evolving our spirit takes nothing more than simple Faith itself? How are you doing?
